The higher annual fee arri…Citi and American Airlines updated the AAdvantage Executive card on August 23, 2026. The improved benefits are live now for everyone who holds the card. The higher annual fee arrives later if you already have it. The annual fee goes from $595 to $695. If you already hold the card, you are not billed the higher fee right away. Citi notifies you first, then charges $695 at a card anniversary that follows. Cardmembers who have held the card longer than 12 months are being notified in August or September 2026 and will pay $695 at their next anniversary. If you opened the card within the past 12 months, notification comes in August 2027 and the higher fee lands at the anniversary after that. Authorized users stay at $175 for up to 3, and $175 for each one after that. Two new benefits do nothing until you enroll, so handle these first. You can enroll in complimentary Avis President's Club status through August 31, 2028. You can also enroll in Omni Hotels and Resorts Champion Status, which lets you earn one Omni Free Night Award per calendar year after a qualifying stay. Three credits are new or larger. Eligible American Airlines Vacations packages and experiences now earn up to $500 in statement credits each calendar year, split into up to $250 January through June and up to $250 July through December. Inflight and eligible Admirals Club purchases now earn up to $100 in statement credits each calendar year. The Lyft credit is now $15 for every calendar month in which you take 3 eligible rides, up to $180 a year, raised from $10 a month and $120 a year. The 25 percent discount on inflight food and beverage purchases is going away. If you opened your account before August 23, 2026, you can still use it through September 30, 2026. After that the $100 inflight and Admirals Club credit replaces it. Eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings now earn 12 miles per dollar, up from 10. Eligible American Airlines purchases still earn 4 miles per dollar, and everything else still earns 1. Your Admirals Club membership itself did not change. Citi now describes it as worth up to $1,400 a year instead of $850, which reflects higher lounge pricing rather than anything new for you. If you are applying rather than renewing, the welcome offer is now 125,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after $15,000 in purchases in the first 5 months. It was 70,000 miles after $7,000 in 90 days. What to do now. Enroll in Avis President's Club and Omni Champion Status, since neither starts on its own. Use the 25 percent inflight discount before September 30, 2026 if you were counting on it. The American Airlines Vacations and inflight credits run on the calendar year, so the July through December halves expire December 31 and do not carry over.
