Hilton Aspire Welcome Offer Drops to 150,000 Points
TL;DR
The public welcome offer on the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card fell from 175,000 Hilton Honors points to 150,000 points on July 30, 2026. The spending requirement did not move: $6,000 in purchases within the first 6 months of Card Membership. Nothing else about the card changed, and if you already hold it, nothing about your account changed either.
What changed
Through July 29, 2026, the Aspire's public offer was 175,000 bonus points after $6,000 in purchases in the first 6 months. Starting July 30, the public offer is 150,000 bonus points after that same $6,000 in that same 6 month window. The only thing that moved is the bonus: 25,000 fewer points for identical effort.
Everything else on the card held. The annual fee is still $550. Earning is still 14x at hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio, 7x on travel, 7x at restaurants, and 3x on everything else. The credits are intact: up to $400 back per year at participating Hilton Resorts, applied as up to $200 semiannually, up to $200 a year in flight credits at up to $50 per quarter, up to $209 per calendar year toward a CLEAR Plus membership, and up to $100 in property credits at Waldorf Astoria and Conrad properties on eligible two night stays. Hilton Honors Diamond status still comes with the card.
Who this affects
This is a new applicant story only. If you already carry the Aspire, your fee, your credits, your Diamond status, and your Free Night Reward are all untouched. If you were approved while the 175,000 offer was live, your bonus terms were set when you applied and this change does not reach back to alter them.
The people who need to make a decision are the ones who were about to apply and have not yet.
What to do about it
The honest answer is that waiting is a bet, not a plan. The elevated 175,000 level has come and gone twice already in 2026, so it is clearly a recurring promotion rather than a one time event. Nobody outside American Express knows when the next elevated window opens or how long it lasts.
Two things should weigh on that bet. First, American Express applies its once per lifetime welcome offer rule to a given card, so whichever bonus you take is the only one you get on the Aspire. That argues for patience if your timeline is flexible. Second, patience is not free. The resort credit runs in semiannual halves and the flight credit in quarters, so the later in a period you are approved, the less of that period's allotment you can actually spend. The CLEAR Plus credit resets per calendar year, so a December approval and a February approval buy very different amounts of usable credit in the first stretch.
If you have a large planned expense that would clear $6,000 anyway, and a Hilton stay you would book regardless, the difference between 150,000 and 175,000 points is smaller than the value of the credits you would leave on the table by waiting several months. If you have no such deadline, waiting costs you very little.
The fine print
The Annual Free Night Reward is a card benefit, not part of the welcome offer. It arrives in your first year of Card Membership and again every year on renewal, with additional Free Night Rewards earned after each $30,000 spent in a calendar year. Some coverage of the current offer bundles a free night into the welcome bonus. Treat it as the standing benefit it is.
The 150,000 figure is the public offer. What an individual applicant sees can differ depending on how they reach the application, so check the terms actually shown to you before you submit. And American Express has not published an end date for the current offer, which means the 175,000 level could return without notice, and could just as easily not.
